OMA Hosts the 41st Annual Indoor Championships

Paul Zelmanski USA (L) and Don Ritchie are neck and neck in the M50 60m Hurdles. Don won the gold by 1/100th in 9.57.

W45 Gaby Szanto broke the CAN record in the Pole Vault with a 2.80m mark. The previous CAN was 2.61m by Carol Reindl SK in 2004. Gaby also broke the 22 year old 1.80m Meet Record held by Barbara Stewart USA. There was no previous ONT record.

M40 Ovidiu Negoita tied the CAN record of 1.76 in the High Jump.The record was set by Russ Regier SK in 1994. He broke his own ONT record of 1.75m

M30 Shane Ferth broke the Meet Record with a 23.69 in the 200m. Mike Weniger held the record of 23.78 set in 2004.

Our frequent guest from Rochester, Bennie James, broke Stan Egerton’s 30 year old M55 MR of 26.5 with a 25.78 mark in the 200m. Bennie also won the 400m.

M45 Mike Sherar (R) just nicks M35 Travis Anderson at the line in the 800m. Mike broke his own 2:01.35 MR with a 2:00.99 finish. Travis was .28 behind him.

W45 Annie Bunting duked it out with M60 John Clarke in a very exciting 1500m. Annie prevailed and broke the 5:00.11 MR held by Christine Lavallee (’02) with a 4:58.58 finish. It tied her ONT record 4:58.58 that she set at the World Indoors in Kamloops in 2010.

M65 Matti Kilpelainen USA tied Stan Egerton’s 3.20m MR in the Pole Vault. Stan’s record still stands after 21 years!

M30 Clayton Latham broke the MR in the Long Jump with a 7.13m mark. Mike Whiteley held the record at 6.31m set in 2010. Clayton also set the MR in the Triple Jump with a mark of 13.90m

W35 Khama Beckles set an ONT record with a 28.56 in the 200m

M60 Brock Pullen threw the Weight 12.88m, setting an ONT record.

The W40 Newmarket Huskies team set an ONT in the 4X200m Relay
running it in 2:18.48  (Ginette Jones, Sheryl Potter, Tracey Snarr, and Heather O’Hagen)
