9 Records Broken At Taylor Creek

Despite awful weather conditions – cold wind and rain – there were nine Course Records broken on Sunday at the 17th Annual Taylor Creek 5K Cross Country. We also had the largest field in history!

M35 Jay Brecher from the University of Toronto Track Club finished first overall – followed very closely by M55 Chris Deighan of the Newmarket Huskies and M30 Mike Doyle of the Longboat Roadrunners.

in her first masters race, broke the Course Record
with a 18:37 finish

W55 Rita Quibell from the Huskies, broke Clara Northcott’s CR with a 21:31

.

W65 Nancy Wells from Longboat ran 25:31 – breaking Wendi Hanger’s CR from 2004

.

M75 Ron Crichton from the Etobicoke Track Club ran 26:45 – breaking Donald Banks’ CR from last year.

The East Toronto Striders, running on their home course, broke the M50 Team CR with a total time of 56:08.
The old record was 59:35 held by TOC – Kooymans, Moore, Hopkins from 2008.

Des Moloney, James Earl, and Ron da Silva Jardine also hold the M40 CR.

Vern Christensen and Jack Geddes of the Scarborough Masters ran 47:12 – breaking the 52:37 M70 Course Record held by Metro Fitness – Krolow, Turner.

The W50 Team from Mississauga TC – Karla Del Grande and Clara Northcott ran 50:19 – breaking the 7 year old CR held by the Merry Moms of Oakville by ONE SECOND!

The W60+ Longboat Roadrunners team of Jennifer Penney and Nancy Wells finished in 53:59 – breaking the CR from 2006 – held by Nancy and Tina De Geus.
