M35 Zoltan Sara (L) jumped 1.91m in the High Jump at Sunday’s Mini Meet, breaking the CAN record of 1.90 that is shared by Russ Regier and Bob Polischuk – both from Saskatchewan and both set over 20 years ago! Zoltan is a new member of the Ontario Masters, having just moved here from BC.
Standing with Zoltan is M35 Negoita Ovidiu, who jumped 1.78m, which, not counting Zoltan’s mark, would have broken Steve Caws 1.76 ONT record set way back in 1988.
M45 Jianping Xu finished the 3000m Racewalk in 14:16.86 breaking Jan Roos’ Meet Record of 14:43.5 set in 1991. It was incorrectly reported in the previous post that JP broke the CAN record at MM#1. We failed to record a proper time and therefore, his fantastic performance doesn’t make it into the books. My fault. Sorry JP.
M40 Jordan Rosenberg ran a fine 1:34.96 in the 600m. Jordan holds the Meet Record in 1:30.22 that he set six years ago.
The 60m Finals produced a very close finish with M35 Mark Smyth (lane 4) edging M50 Michael Lee Foon (lane 6) by 5/100ths. It’s great to see M40 Malik Crepsac (lane 5) back after a year off due to injury. Malik still holds the Meet Records in the 300m (36.67) and the 400m (52.29).
The closest finish of the day had to be in the longest race – M50 Dave Penney (L) edges M45 Jay Yakabowich by 4/100ths in the 3000m.
We were very happy to share the venue with the Flying Angels open meet and we look forward to doing it again during MM#3 on Feb 6th.
